I’m Scott Christensen, the creator of the Paint the Ocean Learning Program.
It’s a comprehensive video-based program with PDF downloads and community support group I’ve produced that distils the knowledge I’ve learnt over the past 25 years and shows you exactly how I paint and run the business. I began painting in 1997 when I was 26. Three years later, I resigned from work drilling under roads to pursue art as a fulltime career. Since then I’ve painted hundreds of seascapes, sold over 2.2M worth of my art and continue to enjoy the lifestyle that comes with being a fulltime artist. The Paint the Ocean – Complete Learning Program is a Video-Based course that teaches you exactly how to paint beaches, waves and coastal themed paintings from Australia’s #1 Selling Surf Artist – Scott Christensen.
The videos are set is a sequence that you move through at your own pace and are backed up with PDF Downloads that make up the Workbook.
The videos total 16 Hours of view time over 78 modules. It’s comprehensive and detailed: From studio set-up to mixing your paint, varnishing your work, selling your creations and everything in between.
Scott shows a method of base-colouring in acrylic paint and finishing with oil paints, but you can decide to stick with acrylic paints if you wish – the painting methods are the same and explained in detail.
Once you have watched through the whole course it’s time to go back and choose 1 of 3 paintings to follow along with Scott as he show’s you exactly how to paint them using the same formula and techniques he taught you in the course. (You can also purchase additional step-by-step demos if you are hungry for more content)

Today I want to share this painting commissioned, is a girl’s gift to her surfer friend, here from Guarujá, photograph taken at Asturias Beach. Well it’s taken a lot of courage to post this, never painted anything before but I haven’t thrown it out… Absolutely a huge fan of Scott Christensen’s work have spent many many hours over the course going backwards and forwards & using practice sheets but I really struggled with rocks, & foreground water… still have to work on those aspects but honestly I have gone over them many times so would appreciate any advice… love everyone’s work & comments of help it’s an awesome group, proud to be part of it..!!
